Gavotte in C Major

Gavotte en Rondo - Les Moutons$$$$$$This Gavotte in C Major by Giovanni Battista Martini was originally composed for organ or harpsichord.

It is the fifth of five movements in Martini's Sonata No. 12 in F minor, B 4.1.9.

This sonata itself is part of Martini's Sonate d'intavolatura per l'organo e il cembalo, first published in Amsterdam in 1742.

This Gavotte in C Major is written in rondo form, whereby there is a refrain which is repeated after every couplet (or episode).

This score is an arrangement for viola with piano accompaniment.

The viola part is appropriate for Grade 3 viola students.

It can be played entirely in the first position.

When playing this Gavotte by Martini, both the violist and the pianist should pay attention to the most interesting two-part counterpoint between the viola and the piano's right-hand part.$$$$$$Duration : 03:06$$$$$$Source : Giovanni Battista Martini, 12 Sonate d'intavolatura per l'organo e il cembalo (Amsterdam, 1742).$$$$$$j5BgZXrEikk
